Time to fulfil the potential – by Ben Murch
The man who is likely to lead Bath’s involvement in the Olympics says it is time to sort out the Rec so it fulfils its potential.
University of Bath director of sport Ged Roddy said he hoped London’s success in its bid to host the 2012 Olympics and the knock-on effect for Bath would lead to an improvement of sporting facilities in the city.
He said: “This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. There has been a lot of talk about regeneration of the Rec and what to do with the Sport and Leisure Centre in Bath. Now is the time to grasp these issues and deal with them. We will never have a better opportunity and if we waste it, we will let down a generation of young people.”
